Site Guide - How to . . .
Sending and receiving messages
Sending emails from your email account
As part of our anonymous email service, you can send emails directly from your email account to people who are in your contacts list.
Sending emails from your email account
You can send emails to any of your contacts by addressing
the email to theirusername-member@cupofsugar.com.
This means that you can send emails from any email program or any web-based email service.
In order for us to be able to tell that it is you sending the message, you should send the emails from the email address you have registered with us. (Keep reading for more details)
Your real email address will be removed from the message and replaced with yourusername-member@cupofsugar.com.
Sending emails from another email account
To set an example, lets say that you registered the email address
monkeyman@example.com
with us, but as you're not at your computer right now, you want
to send emails from professionalmonkey@work.com.
If you were to send emails from this other address, we wouldn't be able to tell who you are and your emails would be returned.
To tell us who you are, you would need to specify your username and password in the email you are sending. Don't worry, no-one will see this as this information will be removed before the email is delivered.
Specifying your username and password in an email
If you need to specify your username and password, you must put just
your username and nothing else on the very first line of your email
and just your password and nothing else on the second line of your email.
Note: to protect your privacy, emails you send from our website will be sent from yourusername-member@cupofsugar.com and will contain absolutely no reference to your real email address. Your contacts can then send emails to this address which will be then delivered to your real email address.
Please read about our anonymous email service to find out how this works.
