Finding the conversation
Selecting the purple tab will take you to the chat area, where you can have a casual discourse in the general chat area or engage in a private one-to-one chat session with one your contacts.
What did you say?
The top panel shows the conversation, updating every few seconds or when you say something. The purple bar will display who you are chatting as or with, for the general and one-to-one chat rooms.
Your two cents
Use the message box to add something to the conversation. Just type what you want and click Send. But beware - administrators will keep an eye on the general chat room and kick you out if you swear or get too rowdy.
Legendary status
The legend panel to the right will keep you informed. When in the general chat room, it will show you who is chatting, with the colours of the names matching the text in the conversation. New chatters will join the list from the bottom.
In the one-to-one area, the legend will list those of your contacts who are currently online. You can switch from one private conversation to another by clicking the name of the contact you wish to chat with.
